Dr Olajide Popoola, NPC’s GP Research Lead, recently visited Lisbon to attend an Investigator Meeting for an important international study focused on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to engage with leading researchers, investigators, and healthcare professionals from around the world, sharing knowledge, experiences, and insights to support ongoing research, collaboration, and improved patient outcomes. Through a series of presentations, discussions, and networking sessions, the event explored current challenges, emerging areas of interest, and the evolving landscape of respiratory research, with a particular focus on COPD and severe respiratory disease.

While details of the study cannot be shared at this stage, the visit offered valuable insights into international research activity and highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing our understanding of complex respiratory conditions. The discussions reinforced the value of patient-centred research, innovation, and the sharing of expertise across organisations and countries.

The meeting provided an opportunity to learn from others working in respiratory research and to make new connections with colleagues from across the world. The insights gained will help inform future research projects and encourage collaboration as we continue to support studies that improve patient care.

We are proud to have been invited to contribute to these important discussions and to represent our organisation on an international platform. We look forward to continuing to support research that advances care for patients living with COPD and other respiratory conditions.
